
Energy Literacy
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of energy literacy. Students will explore how the electric energy grid functions and the challenges and opportunities being experienced during our current energy transition. Many of the Power Systems 101 concepts from the blog can be found here in more detail as well as other concepts exclusive to the course.
The course examines energy literacy through technical, social, and political perspectives, focusing on the northern context. Case studies will explore equipment, technologies, and the integration of renewables in remote northern communities and grids, highlighting challenges and opportunities.
This is a free, online, self-guided, interactive course which will take approximately 15 hours to complete. Once enrolled, the course will be available to students for a 90-day period.
We have developed the Energy Literacy course through the Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery Program (C2R2) for Yukon University.
